Professional Interests

Working landscape management

Landscapes need balance between 'green' and 'grey' infrastructure to provide ecosystem services and sustainable development. Created the 'Working Landscape simulator' tool using scenario planning to aid decision makers engage in sustainability

Biodiversity monitoring & assessments

Conducted multiple biodiversity assessments in central Africa and South America. Recognized large mammal expert, also coordinated multiple assessments including amphibians, reptiles, plants, fishes, and small mammals.

New conservation technologies

Passionate about new technologies, use camera traps, acoustic recorders, remote sensing, and drones to understand biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. In partnership with UTEC in Lima (Peru), developing new technologies for ecosystem monitoring.

Infrastructure & industry best practices

Partnered with multiple private sector operators to evaluate environmental impacts of large infrastructure and energy projects. Collaboratively developed best practices and new industry standards for a better environmental management of projects.

Statistics, modeling & spatial analyses

Population dynamics and distributions with GLM, Bayesian, & occupancy. Remote sensing & landscape change evaluation and projections. Participative evaluation of socio-economic data. Landscape connectivity and ecosystem services.

Teaching & professional training

Provided undergraduate and professional training on topics related to research interests: biodiversity monitoring, population dynamics, experimental designs, ecosystem services, mammal zoology. Mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students.
